You feel like you're doing the best you can, but you're barely holding on. Anxiety and nightmares keep you up at night, you lash out at the ones you love, and you feel ashamed and alone. Sometimes you worry that you're losing your mind and it's getting harder to fake it. If you're struggling with PTSD, traumatic memories, anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and loss, or even "simple" life transitions, I can help you find hope, peace, and direction. You don't need to suffer alone; therapy can help you create the life you deserve. Together, let’s identify and resolve what is getting in the way.

About Me:

While I was born and raised right here in Manchester, the last 15 years have taken me on a bit of a wild ride! I have lived and practiced in New York, London, and Utah. I decided to move back permanently to Manchester because of all the places I have lived, this community has always felt like “home”!

Thanks to my travels, I have a breadth of experience across many populations and demographics. After graduate school, I packed a suitcase, hopped on a plane and spontaneously moved to England. I was a social worker for five schools throughout inner-city east London. The community was comprised mostly of refugees from Somalia and Bangladesh, 90% of whom were Muslim. It was an amazing, immersive experience that focused on issues like addressing parental mental health, education/prevention of sex-trafficking, cultural issues, complex trauma, etc.

After moving back to the states in 2011, I found myself in Salt Lake City. There, I practiced as a school social worker for several years in a Title 1 elementary and middle school. The schools were in a community that was struggling with issues like poverty, substance abuse, and domestic violence. I worked to treat and address behaviors such as aggression, anxiety, school refusal, self-harming, defiance, gang affiliation, intellectual/emotional/developmental disabilities, etc.

After having twins in January of 2015, I took some time off to stay home with them, but missed being a therapist so much that I decided to open a group practice. In addition to managing the clinic and supervising other therapists, I worked with adults, teens and families who were most commonly struggling with cultural/spiritual trauma due to the pervasiveness of the dominant religion in Utah society. I always aspired to own and direct my own outpatient clinic. I feel so blessed to have been able to “live the dream”, but I found that the administrative side of owning a practice was not my favorite. Now, I am super excited to pour all of my energy into doing direct clinical work (the part I’m really passionate about) here at Beehive! I see clients in our Manchester office and online.

My Approach:

I LOVE being a therapist because I LOVE people! I have experienced a lot of adversity in my own life, both as a child and as an adult. Those experiences have helped inform my approach as a therapist and shape me into someone who is approachable, empathetic, and relatable. My primary objective when first meeting someone is to connect in a way they feel comfortable, safe and confident that I have what it takes to help them. I believe one of my greatest strengths as a therapist is being able to read and adapt to the differing needs of each client. Some people prefer a very clinical approach, others like a more relaxed vibe. Some clients have done years of therapy, others are coming to therapy for the first time and can feel uncomfortable and even scared. Some people can identify everything they have concerns about as well as precise goals; others may not even be able to articulate what’s wrong, they just know they are not okay.  I focus on assessing and adapting to each person’s unique needs without judgement, because no two clients are the same. Everyone deserves to live life as the best version of themselves. Together, let’s identify and resolve what is getting in the way of that!

My Specialty:

When you meet with me, it is likely that we will discuss EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy as a treatment option. While I have experience in several different treatment approaches, EMDR is easily the most powerful, effective therapy that I have ever used. I have found my life’s passion in this modality because it is incredible to watch people make measurable change in their lives.

Does insurance cover the cost of therapy sessions?

I take Husky/Medicaid, Anthem BCBS, Cigna/Evernorth, Aetna, United/Optum/Connecticare/Oxford, and Medicare. I will also work with your out of network (OON) benefits and offer a sliding scale.
