If you're in search of an energetic, mindful, articulate therapist who is going to both challenge and nurture you while collaborating with you on treatment goals, you've come to the right place. Empowerment is a major value of mine, both personally and professionally, and it's one that I impart on my clients. I work with clients in therapy to process emotions and prior memories or feelings, and also to practice the skills necessary to handle future situations in a way that feels right for them. This means meeting the clients "where they are at," in terms of what is realistic for them to start doing on a day-to-day basis. I enjoy challenging cases and situations, and while I am known to push clients, I am also known for offering them positive, nonjudgmental unconditional regard. I appreciate all of the light and insight each client brings into their sessions. I choose to work from a strengths-based, person-centered perspective while borrowing occasional interventions from other schools of thought- especially EMDR, Internal Family Systems-informed approaches, and Ego State Therapy.

If you feel like you have missed key components of your life because you were not able to be fully present, you find yourself checking out often, or you don’t have the relationships and career you crave, I would love to help. Many of my clients have symptoms of dissociation- feeling disconnected, out of body, or cannot remember significant chunks of life. These are all indicative of trauma and are very normal and treatable with the right interventions!

I am an active member of EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) and the American Counseling Association and am an EMDRIA-approved consultant-in-training. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2010 from Newbury College, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude, before going on to The Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (now William James College) to earn a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2012. During undergraduate study, I interned at the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. During graduate study, I worked extensively with children and families on an in-home and outpatient basis; afterwards I worked as a mental health crisis clinician to both children and adults in the Springfield area before returning to my home state of CT for more crisis work. I have spent the past five years in private practice working with adults who prefer to be active in their treatment process. If this sounds like you, reach out and set up your appointment today!

Please note that I only work with adults 18 and over who are suffering from symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, or want help setting better boundaries with work, family, and relationships.

As of January 2018 I officially became EMDR certified, and as of February 2020 I became an EMDR Consultant and earned my EMDRIA Approved Credit Provider credential in November 2021. I have a passion for empowering EMDR therapists to hone their craft while incorporating authentic language, skills, and life experiences. I am passionate about teaching new and seasoned EMDR clinicians to provide EMDR therapy from a social justice framework. For more information about how EMDR can be helpful with acute trauma and PTSD symptoms, check out this conversation with Attorney Ryan McKeen at Connecticut Trial Firm, LLC.

I take Husky/Medicaid, Anthem BCBS, United/Optum/Connecticare, Aetna, and Cigna. I will also work with your out of network (OON) benefits and offer a sliding scale. I practice out of our Southington CT office and online.
